Terms of Service

version 1.2 · in force from September 25, 2026

Vanteia is entertainment and self-reflection, and it is in beta — still being built, and liable to change or break. Readings are produced by software, are not advice or prediction of any kind, and every decision you make stays yours. You must be 18 or older.

1. Who we are, and what this agreement covers

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Vanteia ("Vanteia", "we", "us"), who operates the Vanteia website and applications (the "Service").

By creating an account, ticking the acceptance box, or otherwise using the Service, you confirm that you have read and accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.

The Service is in beta. It is open while it is still being built: features appear, change and disappear, faults are likelier than in a finished product, and we may have to interrupt it, or lose or reset data, with little warning. Section 10 sets out what we do and do not promise about availability.

For anything relating to these Terms, write to [email protected].

2. Entertainment only — not advice, not prediction

Vanteia is an entertainment and self-reflection service drawing on tarot, astrology, numerology and related divinatory traditions. Those traditions have no scientific basis and no demonstrated ability to predict events.

Nothing the Service produces is a statement of fact, a forecast of real events, or professional advice of any kind. In particular, it is not medical, psychological, psychiatric, legal, financial, investment, tax, insurance, employment or relationship advice, and it is not a substitute for a qualified professional.

You must not use the Service to make — or as an input to making — decisions about health, medication, safety, legal matters, money, or any other consequential subject. Every decision you take remains entirely your own.

3. The content is generated by software

Readings, interpretations, summaries and spoken output are generated automatically by machine-learning models. No person reviews them before you see them.

Machine-generated content can be inaccurate, inconsistent, incomplete or meaningless. When you draw the cards yourself, what you do with the deck affects the spread, but which cards come up is a matter of chance. We make no claim that any output is true, accurate, meaningful, or fit for any purpose.

The Service keeps a short summary of your earlier sessions so later readings feel continuous. That is a narrative device, not a professional record, and must not be relied on as one.

Before a reading begins, what you write is checked automatically against a short list of phrases that suggest an acute crisis. If one matches, the Service declines to produce a reading. It is a crude word filter, not an assessment of you: it will sometimes stop a reading it should not have, and it will miss real distress worded differently. Its silence is not reassurance, and section 2 applies exactly as written.

4. Who may use the Service

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor, we will close it and delete the data.

One account per person. You are responsible for everything done through your account, and for keeping your password secure. Tell us immediately if you suspect someone else has access.

The Service may not be available everywhere. We operate it from where we are established, and we make no representation that the Service or any of its content is appropriate, or lawful to use, in any particular place. You access it on your own initiative, and you are responsible for complying with the law that applies to you where you are.

In a small number of countries the law restricts or prohibits services of this kind. We do not direct the Service to any such country and do not advertise it there; where using it is unlawful for you, you must not use it — the offer is void where prohibited. We may refuse access from any country or territory where we conclude we cannot or should not offer the Service, including because of international sanctions. By using the Service you confirm that you are not on any sanctions list and are not using it from a territory under comprehensive sanctions.

Not every refusal is about the law. We may also decide not to offer the Service in a country for reasons of our own — what serving it would cost us, or what it would oblige us to do — and a country we have set down that way is one we may take up again at any time. If you are refused for that reason, nothing in it says that what you wanted to do is unlawful where you are.

5. Free trial and guest use

You may try certain features without an account, to a limited extent; we may change or withdraw trials at any time.

Using the Service as a guest is subject to these Terms in exactly the same way as using it with an account.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to: present output to other people as reliable prediction or as professional advice; hold yourself out as a qualified practitioner on the basis of it; use the Service for unlawful, harassing, hateful, defamatory, sexually exploitative or fraudulent purposes; submit another person's personal data that you are not entitled to share; extract, reverse-engineer, scrape or resell the models, prompts, artwork or content; circumvent trial limits, paywalls, rate limits or security controls; or access the Service by automated means except as we expressly allow.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches this section, and where the breach is serious we may do so without refund.

7. Your content

"Your content" means the questions, notes, profile details and audio you submit, and — while the Service is in beta — the problem reports and suggestions you send us from the feedback panel, together with any images you attach to them. You keep ownership of all of it.

You allow us, free of charge, to host, process and transmit your content — solely to provide the Service to you and keep it running, and only for as long as we hold that content under the Privacy Policy. This is a non-exclusive licence, and it applies worldwide. We do not sell your content, and we do not use it to train models — ours or anyone else’s.

You confirm that you have the right to submit what you submit.

A report or suggestion is different from the rest of your content in one way, and this is the only place it says so. Beyond the licence above, you allow us to act on what it describes — to fix what it reports and to build what it suggests — freely, without payment, attribution or any obligation to you, and without that use being limited to operating the Service for you personally. Sending us an idea creates no partnership, no employment relationship and no claim on anything we go on to build.

We are not obliged to reply to a report or to act on it, and we may close one without doing either. Do not attach an image you do not have the right to share, and do not put other people’s personal details into a report. What a report contains, and how long we keep it, is described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Our content

The Service — its software, design, artwork, card imagery, texts, prompts and brand — belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own private, non-commercial purposes.

You may use the readings generated for you personally, including sharing them, provided you do not present them as professional advice or as our endorsement of any decision.

Some of the reference data in the Service comes from third parties under their own licences. Place names — countries, regions and settlements — are taken from the GeoNames geographical database and used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0). IP Geolocation by DB-IP (https://db-ip.com) is used under the same licence to work out which country a visitor is connecting from, so that we can decline to offer the Service where we may not lawfully offer it. Both are credited here, in these Terms, rather than on each screen that shows the data.

9. Paid passes

For now the Service can only be used free of charge: paid passes are not on sale yet, and we accept no payments.

The Service may show plans, what they include and their prices in advance, and ask which you would choose. That is not an offer: your answer does not oblige you to buy anything or us to sell anything, and plans and prices may change before sales open.

Before we start accepting payments, we will publish the terms of purchase, payment and refunds, and you will need to accept them before you buy.

10. Availability and changes to the Service

The Service is provided on an “as available” basis. We may change, suspend or discontinue any feature, or the Service as a whole, and adjust limits at any time.

We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free. We are not responsible for a failure or delay caused by something outside our reasonable control — the failure of a provider the Service depends on, a network or infrastructure outage, or a legal or regulatory requirement.

11. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service and everything it produces are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any decision you take or do not take on the basis of anything the Service produces, nor for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for lost profit, revenue, data, goodwill or opportunity.

Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us during that period and EUR 50.

If you are a consumer, these limits apply only so far as the consumer law that protects you allows; your mandatory statutory rights are unaffected.

13. Your responsibility for misuse

If you use the Service in breach of section 6 and someone brings a claim against us because of it, you agree to be responsible for the reasonable costs we incur, to the extent the claim results from your breach and to the extent the law allows.

14. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. You can delete your account yourself, from your profile: the account and everything it holds are erased. If you would rather we did it, write to [email protected]. Either way it is done within one month, and normally much sooner.

We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms, if the law requires it, or if continuing would expose you, us or others to serious risk. Where it is reasonable and lawful to do so, we will tell you why.

Provisions that by their nature should outlast the agreement — including the content licences, the disclaimers and the limitation of liability — survive termination.

15. General

If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not waived it. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms; we may transfer our rights and obligations under them to whoever takes over the Service, without reducing your rights, and you agree to such a transfer in advance.

These Terms together with the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between us about the Service. The separate consent we ask before working with sensitive content is not part of that agreement and is not changed by it: it is a permission you give and may take back, never a condition of having an account here.

We may update these Terms. Each new version is published with the date on which it takes effect. If you have an account, we will ask you to accept the new version, and you can go on using the Service only once you have; if you do not agree with it, stop using the Service.

These Terms are published in every language the Service offers. The version in the language in which you accepted them governs your agreement with us.

Before starting formal proceedings, please write to us at [email protected] — most matters are settled quickly.
