The Moon
The Moon is a path between two towers under a moon with a face, a dog and a wolf howling beside it, and a crayfish climbing out of the pool. The card is about the unknown — what is sensed before it is seen, and what is imagined in the space where seeing fails — and about the difference between intuition and fear wearing its clothes.

What the card shows
The Moon fills the top of the picture, a face in profile set inside a crescent, its eyes closed. Beneath it fall small drops like the ones that fell from the Tower's sky, but slowly, and nothing burns. A path runs from a pool in the foreground up between two gray towers toward mountains on the horizon, and at the water's edge a crayfish climbs out onto the land. On either side of the path are a dog and a wolf, heads back, howling at the light. The dog is tame and the wolf is not, and the path goes between them. The colors are cool — pale blue, gray, green — and the moon is the only light. Nobody walks the road. The number is eighteen: one night on from the Star, and the light has changed.
The Moon · Upright meaning
Upright, the Moon names a time of not knowing. The path is there but the light is wrong for it; things are sensed before they are seen, and what cannot be seen gets filled in by the mind, which is not always a reliable painter. The card's gift is intuition — the crayfish climbing out of the deep water, the knowledge that arrives from below and does not explain itself — and the permission to trust a feeling before it has evidence. It asks for patience with ambiguity, and for a particular kind of honesty: knowing which of your certainties are seen and which are dreamed. The shadow sits close to the gift, closer than on most cards. Illusion is intuition's twin, and both speak in the same voice; the fear that says «something is wrong here» and the instinct that says the same thing are told apart only afterward, or by walking. The card is not telling you what is out there in the dark. It is asking what you already sense and have been calling nothing, and what you have been calling knowledge that is really the dark shaped like your worst guess.
In love
In love the Moon is the feeling you cannot account for — the unease that has no incident attached, the pull toward someone that makes no sense on paper, the dream about the person that says more than the last three conversations did. It is a card of undercurrents, and it is honest that they run both ways: what is hidden may be a truth the other has not said yet, or a fear of yours dressed in their face. Where a relationship is new, it asks what you are projecting into the spaces you have not yet been shown. Where it is older, it asks what you have sensed for a while and decided not to look at. The reflection it offers: which of your feelings about this person came from them, and which came from the night?
In work and money
At work the Moon is the project whose real state nobody can see, the reorganization felt in the corridor before it is announced, the hunch about the client that turns out to be right for reasons you could not have listed. It is a card of reading the room rather than the report, and it is honest that a room can be misread. It rewards the person who names uncertainty as uncertainty — «I don't know yet», said plainly — instead of filling the dark with a confident story. Its question for the working week: what do you sense about your work that has not yet been said aloud, and what would it take to check it rather than carry it?
What the card asks
Walk slowly and keep to the path. Trust the pull from below — the crayfish knows something — but do not confuse the howling with the road. When you cannot see, say so, to yourself first; the confident guess is the moon's favorite disguise. Let the night be a night: some things are only knowable after they have been lived through, and the towers on the horizon do not come closer because you strain your eyes.
The Moon · Reversed meaning
Reversed, the Moon sets and the path is shown for what it is. Clarity arrives — sometimes gently, confusion fading as the facts come in, sometimes as the plain daylight discovery that the shape in the dark was a coat on a chair. Fear is released, or seen through; the wolf turns out to have been the dog's shadow. The card can describe the relief of an answer, or the sober moment when a long self-deception is recognized and let go. Or it shows the dark held onto — a person who has lived so long by the moon that the daylight version of things feels flat and untrustworthy, and who keeps the fog because it was at least familiar. Both are the same card, at dawn. The gift underneath is a sense of the unseen that no longer has to invent what it cannot see. The reflection is not «you were imagining it», but «now that you can see the path, what do you actually want to do with it?»
In love
Reversed in love, the Moon can describe the end of a long uncertainty — the conversation that finally happens, the suspicion that proves groundless, or the one that proves true and is, in its way, a relief. It may point to a person emerging from a period of projection and meeting the other as they are, plainer and realer than the dream. It can also mark a clarity that is not yet trusted, the daylight squinted at. The question it leaves: now that you see this person more clearly, is what you feel for them still what you felt, or was the feeling partly made of the dark?
In work and money
In work the reversed Moon is the situation that resolves when the missing number arrives, the rumor that dies, the career anxiety that turns out to have been about something else entirely. It can be the team that stops guessing at the strategy because somebody finally wrote it down. It can also be the person who preferred the fog, because in the fog nobody could be blamed. The card asks for one honest look at what has recently become clear at work, and at whether you have let it be clear or gone looking for a new dark.
What the card asks
Open your eyes to the light there is. If a fear has lifted, do not pick it up again out of habit; let the coat be a coat. If the facts have arrived and they are plainer than the dream, take the plainness as a gift — it is easier to walk in. And keep the crayfish: the instinct that served you in the dark is still yours in the daylight, only now it can be checked. The Moon reversed is not the end of mystery. It is a reminder that the towers were never as far as they looked, and that the path was always there under your feet.
